St. Helier Yacht Club offers a full range of shore-based RYA training courses, as well as ICC, throughout the year and will be providing practical training up to RYA Powerboat Level 2 for the 2012 season (from Easter onwards). The current Principal for the St. Helier Yacht Club Training Centre is Julian Barber, who is a commercially-endorsed Yachtmaster, Cruising Instructor and Powerboat Instructor.

We will keep the website and notice boards updated with courses as we organise them, but please feel free to contact the Principal (julian@island-ark.com) or the Club if there are specific courses you would like to do. We will keep records of demand for specific courses and will endeavour to put courses on that match your needs. If you have a group that wants to do a specific course, we may be able to arrange for one of our trainers to run a course on a date that is convenient for you. Just ask!

There is currently a Shore-based Yachtmaster Course (click here) running in January. This course is now full but please contact the Club on shyc@localdial.com or 732229 in case anyone drops out. There is an RYA First Aid Course (click here) planned for early February for only £55. There is an RYA Sea Survival and ISAF Offshore Safety Course (click here) starting in March 2012. All 4 of our VHF Courses planned for January and February are now full so we have set up another course on Saturday 17th March (click here for details).

We have also organised a free evening presentation and discussion covering man overboard recovery and search and rescue techniques. Wednesday 14th March at 19:00. Click here for more information and to book your place.
