St Helier Yacht Club provides a full racing calendar of events, suitable for all types of cruiser or racer.

Yachts race mainly under Jersey Handicap ratings, which can be applied for free of charge from the Jersey Handicap Committe. Classes are split into Sport Boats, Class 1, Class 2, Class 3, Day boats and Multihulls. Occasionally, such as for the Coastal Series, pursuit races and some others, classes are combined.
