Update on Clubhouse and activities

Published 12:20 on 17 Mar 2020

In light of the global outbreak of Coronavirus and the advice given by the Government of Jersey, we would like to provide you with an update on the steps we are taking to protect the Club and its members, staff and visitors.

The Clubhouse remains open with normal bar and food service, and will do so until we are instructed, by the authorities, otherwise. We have introduced increased hygiene protocols, including regular disinfecting of the bar, door handles etc throughout the day and would appreciate if those using the Clubhouse could do the same, either by using the hand sanitiser or washing their hands upon entering the building.

If you have flu-like symptoms, such as a fever, a cough, muscle aches and headaches, please stay at home until you are symptom-free (at least 7 days), whether or not you have been travelling or have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.

We are reviewing upcoming events as they arise and will consider their viability based on the most recent advice issued by the Government of Jersey. Please see the below for the status of forthcoming events:

St Patricks Day Tuesday 17 March - currently going ahead as planned
Mothering Sunday Lunch Sunday 22 March currently going ahead as planned
Marine Auction Saturday 28 March postponed, new date to be confirmed

Further events including the AGM and Club racing and rallies will be reviewed with as much notice as possible, again with decisions being made to reflect Jersey Government policies.

Whilst we appreciate the social benefits that our Clubhouse brings to many of our members, we strongly encourage those aged 65 or over to follow the Government of Jersey advice on social distancing which includes keeping a distance of 1m from others when not in the home and avoiding large public gatherings.

Anyone who should self-isolate, in accordance with Government of Jersey guidance (https://www.gov.je/Health/Coro...), should not visit St Helier Yacht Club and should call the Coronavirus helpline on 01534 445566.

If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to Chris Parlett (tel: 732229 or email: office@shyc.je).
