All St Helier Yacht Club motor and sailing boats are invited to participate in a celebration of the 80th anniversary of the evacuation of St Malo in 1940 which will be held in St Aubins Bay on Sunday June 14th.
The Club has been given permission to hold the parade subject to prevailing social distancing measures in order to mark this most important anniversary which should have taken the form of a rally and race to St Malo which has now unfortunately been cancelled.
The parade will commence with a muster in the St Aubin area at 13:15 ( h.w. 13:51) followed by a shoreline pass along the length of the bay before rounding Elizabeth castle to the south and then entering St Helier harbour to pass the Club prior to dispersal.
This is intended to be a joyous occasion for the Club in recognition of the award of our defaced ensign and all boats are requested to dress overall if possible with prizes being awarded for both motor and sailing yachts. A commemorative burgee will presented to each owner at a reception to be held at the Club later in the year .
The parade is open to all boats capable of travelling at 4kts and able to communicate on VHF channel 8. Sailing instructions will full details of all arrangements will be issued prior to the parade to all boat owners who will be required to register in advance using the form which is can be downloaded here. Please post the forms back to the office, print, complete and scan them back to the office email, or just email the details required.
Our permission to run the parade is conditional on good organisation which requires a detailed plan which will include the mooring details for each boat so that potential pontoon congestion can be eliminated.
Please register as quickly as possible as it may be necessary for us to restrict numbers if we go beyond the plan for 50 boats.
