West Country Tour
Following the hugely successful SHYC West Country Tour in 2021 the sailing committee have decided to run a similar event again this summer.
We have agreed some changes to the format in order to broaden the appeal to crews who might not wish to participate in the offshore race to Falmouth. We are also hoping that some of our motorboats and rally boats might like to join us. For those crews who wish to take part in the full event it will start in Jersey on Saturday 8th July with a race to Falmouth. There will also be a three-leg tour within the race, only counting the legs along the South Coast. The final race will be on Friday 14th to Brixham, where we are assured of a warm welcome at the Brixham Yacht Club for our prizegiving.
The reasoning behind restarting the tour in Falmouth is to allow some boats and crews to make a more leisurely coast-hopping crossing to Falmouth over several days and then to join in the coastal series of races (including a white-sail class) for which insurance and equipment requirements are less onerous. That said, we would strongly recommend a liferaft and an AIS receiver and transponder for cruising across the Channel.
Full Event Schedule:

Provisional bookings at marinas for a fleet size of about 20 boats have been secured (including one or two nights in Brixham) and we ask that anyone who is interested in participating to please register online or contact Jason in the office as soon as possible on office@shyc.je or 732229 to advise.
It may be of interest to know that your Passeport Escales can be used at both Queen Ann Battery in Plymouth and Brixham.
More detail will become available as we get closer to the start including options for activities on the rest days but it is helpful to have an idea at this stage of numbers as the marinas would like to know how many berths to reserve for us.
We look forward to another successful tour with as many of you who can make this part of your summer boating plans.
