2022 Rally Programme

As the world appears to be in the final furlong with the pandemic, your Rally Committee has been busy dusting off the plans for a season full of boating events for Members to enjoy at last!

As things stand, there should be few, if any extra hurdles to jump in terms of Covid procedures - as long as you are fully vaccinated of course.

We will have to deal with Customs & Immigration controls, but I think we can live with that little inconvenience, so that we can finally catch up with all our friends in the French ports.

We should emphasise that these events are for ALL boats capable of inter-Island travel, sailing and motor boats, RIBs, etc.  If you are new to off-Island trips, these are the ideal opportunities to cruise in company to help build confidence, and all events have a social element, with a variety of refreshments laid on.

So we have organised the following events, please put them in your diaries and watch the newsletters for fuller details closer to the dates.

RANCE CRUISE

15-18th April

This rally coincides with the RCIYC Commodores Cup race to St Malo, and starts in the inner Bassin Vauban marina, under the walls of the city, with drinks and nibbles at the La Trinquette early evening on Good Friday, before we head in to town to find suitable restaurants for dinner.  We lock through the Barrage on Saturday morning and motor up to PlouĂ«r marina, with a welcome drink and a big meal for everyone booked at the wonderful La Cale restaurant, with views over the Rance estuary.  Those with a draft of less than 1.6 metres can then move up to historic Dinan on Sunday for some sight-seeing and more eating, before a leisurely return to the Island on Easter Monday.  This cruise was a huge success last time we went (pre-pandemic), so hope the weather will be kind to us again.

LIBERATION GUERNSEY RALLY

7-9th May

We head up to our sister Isle on the Saturday and will join members of the Motor section of Guernsey Yacht Club for a welcome drink and barbeque on their clubhouse balcony that evening, and a chance to renew friendships with members of our sister club.  We will then enjoy the Liberation bank holiday celebrations in St Peter Port, famed for being the place to be on Liberation Day.

QUEENS PLATINUM JUBILEE EVENT

3rd June

We have decided to stay at home for this special event, but will be holding a special event on the Friday morning, hopefully at St Aubins Fort, with all boats tying up at the Fort for breakfast and raising a glass to the Queen Our Duke.

ST. MALO EVACUATION RALLY

17-19th June

Having missed the 80th (and 81st) anniversary of the Clubs part in the evacuation of British troops and civilians from St Malo in 1940, we are looking forward to marking the 82nd anniversary, with our traditional overnight race down to St Malo, where the racing yachts will meet up with the rally boats, all locking through to the Bassin Vauban together, dressed overall, forming a dramatic sight, before heading for the marina.  A formal reception with visiting dignitaries at La Trinquette will be followed by a barbeque lunch, an afternoon at leisure and evening in the walled city, before a return to Jersey on the Sunday.  Details of a separate reception at our clubhouse will follow in due course.

CARTERET BARBEQUE

27-29th August

We will be heading over to the recently expanded Carteret marina to inspect the new facilities and will be holding a barbeque at Carteret Yacht Club, before spending the bank holiday weekend in this picturesque town, with the wonderful market at Barneville on Saturday morning.

GRANVILLE BARBEQUE

16-18th September

This will be our end-of-season event, with our always popular barbeque at Granville Yacht Club and a weekend enjoying Granville hospitality. So plenty to look forward to this year, fingers crossed for good weather and no more restrictions.  We have a few people that would like to attend that dont have boats, so would like to hear from boat-owners that would be happy to take on some extra crew for the rallies.

We are always looking for willing volunteers to help with events on site and with the logistics, so please do get in touch with either Chris Parlett or Deborah or via the office if you would like to offer your services.

Heres to a fantastic year of rallies. We look forward to you joining us Happy Boating Your Rally Committee.
