Traditionally October sees the end of our normal racing programme with the Rallye Hubert to Granville. As often as not this has to be cancelled due to bad weather. This year it was the complete reverse with a shortened course starting at N.E. Minqs because of the light winds! It was a beautiful weekend enjoyed by a fleet of 19 yachts. Thanks to Nick OHare our Chairman of Sail for acting as Start Boat and organising the Scavenger Hunt on our arrival. The race back was real Champagne Sailing with the wind behind us the whole way. Congratulations to Knight Star on winning the race there and Wandering Star on the return. The fastest team to complete the Scavenger Hunt was Marric and the overall Rallye Hubert was won by Knight Star.

Last Saturday evening was the Laying Up Supper with a Pirate theme. Yet again many thanks to Cath Moisan and her team for making this such a great success. We had the Aureole Singers providing Sea Shanties with a little extra Karaoke and the usual great food from the Chefs. Willie Peggie and Louise Magris won the prize as the best dressed pirates.

Those of you who have been down to South Pier recently will see that the work on the outside of the Club House is nearing completion with the lapboard looking fantastic, we are just waiting for the roofing to be done so that that scaffolding can be taken down.

Looking forward we have the Annual Dinner later this month at St Brelades Bay Hotel. Apologies to those of you who have been unable to come as places were all booked up very quickly this year and we were unable to move to the larger room but I understand that your Social Committee is looking at this for 2023.

There will also be a very interesting talk on 8th November in the Westward Room given by David Worsfold on Operation Ariel including the Evacuation of St Malo in 1940. Please let the office know if you intend coming as this will help us with numbers. There will be more information about this very shortly.

Looking further ahead in December we will be having the Merry Gents Race on 16th and the Festive Fun Race on the 17th. The latter will be followed by carols in the Club Room and Father Christmas will come to see our youngsters during his very busy schedule. Dont forget that if you are looking for something to do on New Years Eve look no further and come down to the Yacht Club when we will be holding our fantastic New Years Eve Party. Tickets will be going on sale very soon so book early to avoid disappointment.

Finally, the Chefs are putting on a great Christmas menu which you can see below. It will be available from the 28th of November.
