Dear All

Welcome to the 27th edition of the combined clubs Jersey Regatta keenly sponsored for the sixth year running by leading offshore law firm Carey Olsen (careyolsen.com). I am pleased to report that all is in place for what we are sure will be a really rewarding, enjoyable and memorable experience for all.

The Regatta opens on Thursday 11th September with the traditional welcoming reception in St Helier YC followed by a coastal race for the cruiser/racer classes on Friday morning. The small boat classes come to the line in St Aubins Bay that afternoon. Note that these races are standalone, providing boats with time to warm up for Saturday and Sunday when all races will count towards the class Championships.

The 12th GBR IRC Channel Islands Championship (rorcrating.com) will be the star attraction in the IRC cruiser/racer programme. All IRC cruiser/racers will be signed up, automatically, for the Championship and will compete for the CI Regional title with a chance of winning not only the Regatta prizes but those generously provided by North Sails (northsails.com), the GBR IRC Championships new sponsor.

Along with the IRC Championship, we are delighted that, for the first time, the Channel Islands Open Dinghy Masters Championship will also run under the Carey Olsen banner. This exciting event is for competitors aged 35 and over sailing any form of monohull boat with a Portsmouth Yardstick number of 1216 or less.

This open event is very kindly supported, too, by Jersey Marinas (ports.je/jerseymarinas) who have provided complimentary berthing to all cruiser and dayboat entrants since the first Jersey Regatta, way back in 1999.

This sailing jamboree is not only about competing and, hopefully, winning, it is complemented by a lively social programme giving everyone plenty of opportunity to unwind and enjoy the camaraderie and ever-warm welcome that awaits them in the Clubs. The social highlight will be Saturdays Regatta Supper Party when any remaining energy can be applied to dancing the night away in readiness for the day ahead! The Regatta will conclude, on Sunday evening, with a sparkling presentation of the many trophies and prizes.

Now would be a good time to register for all that this great event has to offer. You will find the Notice of Race for both the Regatta and the Dinghy Masters Championship and Sailing Instructions on the Official Notice Board tab, above. Please note, especially, that early bird fees apply up to and including Friday 29th August. The normal entry fee will apply, thereafter, until Tuesday 9th September when entries close.

For further information, please contact the Regatta Office either by e-mail to info@jerseyregatta.com or by telephone +44 (0) 1534 732229.

On behalf of the organising committee and our sponsors, I wish you fair winds, calm seas and great sailing. We look forward to the pleasure of your company at the Carey Olsen Jersey Regatta in September.
