Carteret Rally Announcement
Published 09:58 on 29 Jun 2026
Our annual rally to St Malo to commemorate the anniversary of the evacuation of troops by Club boats was blessed with largely good weather, apart from one little foggy patch, and a good turnout of 23 boats. The sight of all the boats locking through into the Basin Vauban was very impressive, as was the very well organised new team running the marinas. Our reception on board the pirate ship Wodnik reflected perfectly the Fete des Corsaires event being held opposite the visitors pontoon. A fun weekend was enjoyed by all.
Moving swiftly along, we are pleased to announce what is becoming a firm favourite in the summer boating calendar, the Rally and Barbeque to Carteret, on the weekend of 17-19th July. We apologise that this does clash with the start of the Biscay Race from Granville.
Below you will find a link below to register please do so NOW if you intend joining us, or even if you think you might, as there will NOT be a further call to register. All further communications will be via the emails you enter on registration.
Due to timetable clashes, we are a little short of helping hands to prep, cook and serve the barbeque, so if you are able to help us out, please reply to the question in the registration accordingly, it will be much appreciated.
Our itinerary is currently as follows:
Friday 17th July Departing Jersey for Carteret provides an option for a longer weekend, on the evening tide HW St Helier is at 21:44 BST, this allows time to visit the market up in Barneville on Saturday morning. There are no events organised today.
Saturday 18th July The remaining boats will arrive on the morning tide HW St Helier is at 10:12 BST. A visit to the market in the morning is very popular if you arrive in time, followed by a day at leisure in Carteret. We meet at the Yacht Club Barneville Carteret for a welcome drink from 17:30 (French Time), followed by a barbeque supper cooked by our team and served in the marquee next to the clubhouse. Afterwards there is the option to stay on and renew old friendships in the YCBC clubhouse, or head into the lively bars in town.
Sunday 19th July No activities are organised today, but a morning and evening tide (10:49 & 23:01 BST) offer the option of an extended Sunday lunch for the faster boats, at one of the many restaurants.
The cost of entry is £5 per person for Members, and £10 for non-members attending. This is refundable if we have to cancel due to bad weather. If you registered for the cancelled Guernsey rally, your registration fee can be carried over to this event, just advise the office accordingly. You will also be able to view the Rally Booking Conditions.
If you have any queries, you can contact the rally committee on rally@shyc.je or via the office.
