On behalf of the Officers and Executive I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. For those who were able to attend our New Years Eve festivities I would like to thank our Social Committee for arranging such a splendid event. Unfortunately, our numbers were slightly reduced due to Covid but for those present it was a super evening. I would like to say a special thankyou to Bruno and Steve for providing such fantastic food and to Alan and his staff for looking after us all so well.

It was with some regret that we have had to take down the Christmas decorations but I would like to thank David and Susie in organising their team of helpers, from the Social and Exec. Committees, to make the Club House look so impressive over the Christmas period. We have had countless members commenting on how lovely the Club Room looked.

Our next social event will be Burns Night on Saturday 22nd January. We will be having all the usual entertainment with the ceilidh band, bagpipes and of course the haggis. So, if you dont want to miss out please contact Jason at the Office to book your place as I believe numbers are limited due to the Covid restrictions.

All our subcommittees have been hard at work making sure that 2022 will be a great year for the Club. It is an important year as not only is it the Queens Platinum Jubilee but it is also seventy years since we were awarded the privilege of being able to fly our defaced red ensign. It was on the 27th September 1952 that the then Lieutenant Governor came to the Club to hoist the ensign for the first time. We are looking at the most appropriate way to celebrate this in September.

The Sailing Committee has finalised our 2022 Sailing Programme and if you wish to start planning for the season use this link to view the Sailing Programme.

We are keeping our fingers tightly crossed that this year we will be able to continue with it as planned but if once again Covid restricts us we are looking at alternatives.

The Rally Committee has also extended their programme for 2022 and for the first time this has been included in the Sailing Programme so you will be able to save the dates from the above link or by viewing the Rally calendar.

On the social side we again have a very busy year ahead with at least one event arranged every month starting with the Burns Night as mentioned above. In February the date for your diary is Saturday 12th when there will be a special Valentines party. Details to follow shortly.

Your House Committee is very hopeful that the revamped fire escape will go up very shortly and once the outside door to the kitchens is changed this should improve the appearance of the front of the club. Next in line will be the new trophy cabinet and hopefully at long last the Chart Room glass balustrade and outside windows will arrive from the U.K.

May I once again wish you all a very happy New Year and lets hope that Covid will allow us to get back to as near normal as possible.
