Evacuation Reception 2022 Announcement

Members are invited to a luncheon reception to be held on Monday the 20th June 2022, at St Helier Yacht Club in honour of Mrs Irene Probstein.

Mrs Probstein, who is the only known living person from the evacuation in June 1940, will be visiting St Helier and St Malo with family members to recall the anniversary of her rescue in the face of the advancing German forces.

 
Mrs Probstein will be invited to unveil a commemorative plaque in the Club at 12.00, followed by luncheon at 13.00.  Afterwards she will be asked to retell her remarkable first-hand account of the evacuation events and the generous hospitality her family received from Jersey people.

Members are invited to reserve tables for the lunch at the Club Office before Monday the 13th of June.  A three-course menu choice will be available at £25 per head.
