Here is a list of our RYA courses over the summer months.
| RYA VHF Radio Course - Short Range Certificate |

| Introduction |
| A course and exam for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio. A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures. The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held. |
| Course Content |
| Basics of radio operation, frequencies, distress, emergency and medical assistance procedures, making ship to shore telephone calls, Digital Selective Calling, Global Maritime Distress Safety System. |

| 09:00 - 17:00 on Saturday the 20th of August. |
| Course Cost |
| The course fee is £90 for Club Members or £120 for non-Members, plus a £60 fee to the RYA for the assessment and licence. |

| RYA Basic Sea Survival Course |

| Introduction |
| Liferafts and the equipment they contain, survival techniques, lifejackets, medical aspects of sea survival, search and rescue techniques. |

| 10:00 - 15:00 on Saturday the 16th of July and 18:00 - 21:00 on Tuesday the 19th of July. |

| RYA First Aid Course |

| Introduction |
| Our one-day course covers all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages. This course is MCA approved and satisfies the requirements for Coastal Skipper Yachtmaster and Advanced Powerboat certificates of competence and some commercial work afloat. |
