The JE Inter Parish Race, run last month was a great success with just under 20 starters and all but one parish represented. The race officers decided to shorten the anti-clockwise course at Corbiere lighthouse which proved to be a wise decision as the westerly breeze died when most boats were in St. Ouens Bay. That being the case, St Laurence was the only parish not passed by the fleet, slightly ironic as that was the winning parish, for the second year running. Congratulations to Steve Pearl and his crew. My thanks go to Jeff Speller and his team who spent considerable time in organising this event which looks set to continue next year.

Looking ahead, plans for our biannual Biscay Race and Rally, this year to Port de Lorient are well advanced and, again, Jeff and his team have been busy, putting the arrangements together. The closing date for the Rally of June 15th is fast approaching so if you have been considering joining, please enter online. Late entries may be accepted (at the discretion of the organisers) but the sooner we have an idea of numbers the better. The closing date for the race is a week later on 22nd June and again, although late entries may be accepted, this will be subject to a late entry fee.

The annual Inter Island Race is also back on for this year, generously sponsored by Savills Estate Agents for the first time. The race is from Guernsey on 25th June and we hope to have good number of yachts representing Jersey so please consider joining in with what we hope will be a spectacular event. Enter here via the Guernsey Yacht Club website.

A quick thank you to the unknown mariner who cleared the mooring rope from my prop at low water yesterday… I owe you a beer.

Finally, this weekend sees the return of the Barclays Jersey Boat Show and the club has organised a stand as part of our ongoing membership drive. Should you have friends or work colleagues who might be interested in club membership, do encourage them to visit our stand over the weekend (we will be positioned close to the main entrance) where they will be welcomed by a friendly face who can share with them the benefits of club membership.

Fair winds,
