The Coronation / Liberation four days was a busy time for the Club. It looked splendid in its decoration, both inside and out, with the cut outs of King Charles and Queen Camila raising funds for Air Search from members that took a selfie with them. The Coronation, in the morning, was shown on our big screen in the lower dining area and proved a great success, which bodes well for future events and screenings. The evening event was a sell out and much fun was had by all, with junior prizes for the best dressed, who also enjoyed the screening of The Lion King in the Westward Room using the newly acquired bean bags. David was a superb jester and took great delight in coronating the Commodore! A big thank you to Susie, Chip and the Social Committee for all their hard work.

The Coronation / Liberation rally attracted 13 boats to Guernsey with Puffin very deservedly being chosen as the best dressed boat.

A great time was had at the RCIYC Guernsey Club House with delicious local sausage and other delights being provided. Six boats then continued up to Alderney to enjoy glasses of Milk-a-punch at Alderney Sailing Club. Tuesday gave an exhilarating and fast sail back to Jersey. Thank you to Debs and the Rally Committee for putting on such an excellent event.

The following weekend was the turn of the racing boats to go to Guernsey, with the Blanchard Classic and second Offshore Series race. To go South or North of Sark, that is the question, and always leads to much debate in the Club House over a friendly beer which, on this occasion, was in RCIYC Guernsey. Six Guernsey boats entered the race taking the first 2 places, well done to Kaya II that won.

Alas, the end of May rally to Carteret ended up being postponed to the end of August, although a handful of members did make it up to Carteret.

Your Parish needs you. We need to have finalised numbers by Thursday 8th June, just a week away so please put an entry in and enjoy the experience.

The Jersey Electricity Inter-Parish Yacht Race is taking place for the fourth time on Saturday 10th June and will be going east about the Island. St Helier Yacht Club is delighted that Jersey Electricity have continued their sponsorship of the race for the fourth time of running. It is different from the other races run by the Club, in that crews include participants who do not normally sail, giving them a different experience.

Weve had a good sprinkle of Parish Officials joining the race in the past, from road inspectors, parish executive officers, Honorary Police and Connetables.

It is a handicap event, with a boat receiving an advantage for each Parish Official they have onboard, giving the boat a Jersey Electricity Event Handicap. If you dont have a boat to enter and would like to join your Parish boat, please let the office know.

Last year we had 20 boats entered representing 11 parishes. We have yet to have a full house of Parishes and the Club is hoping 2023 will be the year this is achieved.
