I am delighted to be able to announce that our new Lieutenant-Governor, His Excellency Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd has accepted our invitation to become an Honorary Member of the Club and we are looking forward to being able to show him our Club House early next year. We are very pleased to have a Naval Officer in position after 30 years.

I would like to thank Susie de Carteret and her helpers for all the hard work that they have put in to making the Club Room look so splendid as we approach Christmas. If you have not been down to the Club, here is a photo although you should come down and see for yourself!

We had our Annual Dinner towards the end of November at the St Brelades Bay Hotel. This was again a fantastic success thanks to Cath Moisan and her Social Committee. As this was another sell out we are looking at ways of increasing numbers for next years event.

I would like to remind you that we still have another couple of fun events in the Sailing Calendar. Firstly, the Alex Bleasby Merry Gents Race on Friday 16th December and the following day we have the Festive Fun Race. As the name suggests this is a very light-hearted event and includes a prize for the Best Dressed Yacht. This will be judged by our past Commodores. All very welcome whether or not you have a handicap. Please can you either enter online or let Jason know if you dont know how to enter.

Dont forget our Festive Drinks and Carols is also on the 17th following the Festive Fun Race. This starts at 3pm and there will be complimentary mulled wine and mince pies. We will be having a festive quiz followed by Carols led by your Chairman of Sailing Nick OHare.  I understand that Father Christmas will be able to attend sometime after 4.30pm. All are very welcome however if you are planning on attending please let the Office know on 732229 to give us an idea of numbers for catering and also if you will be bringing any youngsters so we can let Father Christmas know how many presents to bring!

Looking further ahead we will be having our ever popular New Years Eve Party although I understand that there are only a very limited number of places left. So, if you would like to come be quick in ringing the office!  Another date for your diary, our Burns night celebrations will be on Saturday 21st January. Further details to follow.

The Chefs Festive menu is proving very popular so if you fancy a meal out why not make a booking on 01534 721307.

May I take this opportunity to thank Jason and Sarah in the office, my fellow Officers, the Exec committee members and the sub-committees for all the hard work that they have put into the Club and for the support that they have given me this year. Also thanks to all of the catering team for looking after us this year. Lastly, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
